Sixth form courses at Retford Oaks

At Retford Oaks Sixth Form, our curriculum is designed to provide all learners with a transformative educational experience, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and character to excel in their chosen pathways and contribute meaningfully to society. Rooted in our commitment to academic excellence, inclusivity, and personal development, our curriculum reflects the needs of our learners, our community, and the wider world.

Students typically attend between 18 and 21 lessons per week with between 9 and 12 study periods. All students choose three qualifications to complete over a 2-year period. All students are required to attend “Personal Development Everyday” sessions throughout the week in order to receive their holistic education around “Future thoughts” focusing on philosophical ideas and exploring culture and beliefs, and Future Me” a comprehensive programme of preparation for further education and the workplace. Each student will have a dedicated tutor who will also provide a mentor programme to ensure that aspirations are met. All students are encouraged to take part in a week of work experience with a local employer. Student are carefully guided to choose a meaningful experience by their tutor.
