Retford Oaks operates a house system – there are four houses, Thoresby, Clumber, Rufford and Sherwood. There are several tutor groups within each house. Tutor groups meet each morning to provide a consistent support network and to deliver personal development everyday. Each group has a dedicated academic mentor providing leadership, guidance, and support to all students.

Older students within each house are encouraged to take on responsibility for mentoring younger members of the house, as part of their personal development. Older students act as buddies to new students when they start, ensuring there is a friendly and familiar face to help your child find their way around, help them know where
to be and when, and answer any questions they may have about life at Retford Oaks.

In the September of your child’s first year with us, their tutor will be in touch with you, by phone or email, to let you know how they are settling in.

The houses

Each house is named after one of the Nottinghamshire Dukeries estates and has a very individual character with its own identity, colour, and house tie.
