Curriculum intent

Child development at Retford Oaks Academy provides students with an understanding of how children grow, learn and develop from birth onwards. We aim to develop caring, informed and responsible individuals who understand the importance of health, wellbeing and safe environments in supporting early childhood development.

Through a balance of practical and theoretical learning, students explore the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of young children. Alongside subject knowledge, students develop observation, analysis and planning skills, preparing them for further study or careers in childcare, education and health-related fields.
