On Thursday 13 August you will be invited to collect your A Level results.  Please note, the results published in August are only provisional results and final certificates will arrive from the exam boards at the end of October – these will form your official qualifications from the summer series of examinations.

Below we have outlined the guidance from Ofqual on how the grades for this summer have been awarded, together with information on where to seek guidance should you not agree with the grades awarded.

How grades have been awarded

Step 1 – Along with other schools and colleges in the country, the academy submitted centre assessed grades for students in each of their subjects. These are the grades we felt students would have achieved had they sat the exams. We also submitted a rank order for students in each subject based on how they were expected to perform. A range of assessment information was considered for every student such as coursework, mock exams, general tracking records and performance throughout the course to determine student grades and ranking.

Step 2 – Exam boards checked the submitted grades for consistency using a model developed with regulators. They have the final say on grades, and therefore award the grade they feel is appropriate. They have worked hard to ensure that all grades for all schools and colleges have been awarded fairly, making sure they are in line with previous national results in each subject, how well the academy has performed in recent years and how well this year’s students have performed at GCSE.

Querying qualification grades

If you have a query after receiving your results or you would like to discuss your grades with a member of staff this will need to be arranged via an appointment system. There may be some availability to speak with staff on the day, but due to the volume of people on site and the need to maintain distancing in line with current guidance, this may not be possible.

A Level – arrangements for collecting results – Thursday 13 August 2020

Arrangements for these days are different to previous years, as we are not allowed more than 25% of the year bubble on site – this follows the latest government guidance for schools.

This means, results will need to be collected according to the time slots below:

9.00 – 9.30 Students in Year 13 whose surnames begin with A – H
9.30 – 10.00 Students in Year 13 whose surnames begin with I – Z
10.00 – 10.30 Students in Year 12 whose surnames begin with A – H

If you are unable to come to academy at your allocated time, please come between 11.00 – 11.30 instead.

Please note:
– Results will be released on G4S at 11.30PM.
– If the weather allows to promote the safety of staff and students the results will be issued outdoors.

Staff will be on hand to discuss the next steps with you on the day.

As you are aware this year, there is the option to take examinations in the autumn if the grades from the summer examination process are not what you need for your next step. At present, the final arrangements for these have not been released and full details will be available on results day.

Despite the different experience that you have had this year, we are still looking forward to celebrating your successes with you in August.  We wish you a safe and enjoyable summer.
