Students at Retford Oaks have great reason to celebrate today after another great year of exam results.

The academy, which is part of the Diverse Academies Trust, opened its doors today to welcome students in year 11 back to the academy for the first time since March. Despite the unusual lead up to results day, the atmosphere was upbeat, and it was wonderful to see so many students back on site for such an important milestone in their lives.

Following today’s results, students will go on to the next stage of their educational journey, whether that be further education, apprenticeships or employment with training.

Top performers this year included Joe Stickley who achieved five grade 9s, four grade 8s and two grade 7s. On receiving his well-deserved results, Joe said: “Unbelievable – I can’t believe it!”

Other notable successes included Pepe Anthony who gained eight grade 8s, one grade 7 and one grade 6. Pepe commented he was “really pleased” with his results and went on to thank everyone for their support.

Hard work really paid off for Ellie Slinger, who said: “Wow – I couldn’t have done this without all the support you have given.” There were smiles all round for Ellie Richards too, who commented: “I am so happy I can now definitely go to college.”

Mr Christopher West, principal at Retford Oaks Academy said: “We are really pleased with this year’s exam results – they really show how much hard work our year 11 have put in over the course of their studies, and I am delighted that this has been reflected in the grades awarded.

“I look forward to seeing many of the students here today again in September, as they join us for sixth form, but for those taking the next steps of their educational journey elsewhere, we wish you a very bright and happy future.”

The academy invites any students yet to secure a place with a post 16 provider to visit www.retfordoaks-ac.org.uk/sixth-form or to email rstewardson@retfordoaks-ac.org.uk
