We’re delighted to introduce our new Head of Sixth Form, Mr James. With fresh ideas and a genuine passion for supporting our young people, Mr James is ready to help our sixth form students thrive. We sat down with him for a quick chat about his goals, values and a few fun facts…

What attracted you to the role of Head of Sixth Form?

I was hugely attracted by opportunity to play a role in shaping the lives of the most talented individuals in our school community.

What are your priorities for the sixth form this year?

I have two major priorities for our sixth form this school year

  1. Achieve the best results in the Bassetlaw area and beyond.
  2. To grow the Sixth Form into a thriving centre of academic excellence that prepares our students for the challenges that life has to offer!

What can students expect day-to-day from you and the sixth form team?

All our students can absolutely expect support, encouragement and motivation from our brilliant team.

What advice would you give to students starting year 12?

Be prepared to work hard and have fun!

Now the important stuff… what’s your favourite flavour of crisps?

Ooooh… It’s got to be salt and vinegar squares! A classic.

If you could have dinner with any three people (dead or alive), who would you choose?

George Best, Eric Cantona and Roy Keane (there’s a theme here…)

What’s one thing students would be surprised to learn about you?

That I acted as roadie for the band ‘Wet Leg’ at a gig in Nottingham.

Finally, what are you most excited about this year?

I am very much excited for the opportunity to lead our Sixth Form into an exciting new era.
