Every student at Retford Oaks Academy sixth form is supported to aim high, build resilience, and grow in confidence — ready to take on whatever comes next. Rooted in our dedication to excellence, our post 16 provision offers a nurturing and inspiring environment where individual strengths are celebrated and meaningful relationships are built. We are confident. We are resilient. We are prepared for the future. We are Retford Oaks.
Our students
Our students each have their own story to tell. In these short videos, they share what it’s like to be part of Retford Oaks sixth form — from the subjects they study, to the support they receive and the opportunities that help them grow in confidence, resilience and readiness for the future.

I really like doing the practicals in chemistry. We have some really cool equipment to use. I’ve really enjoyed working as part of a team, setting up the equipment, and getting some fun, organic chemicals out at the end.
James
I’d like to become a pilot — a commercial airline pilot and get as much experience on different types of aircraft during my career.
Joseph
In the year 11 to sixth form, I’ve changed a lot — I’ve matured, I’ve grown, and in this time I’ve been given a lot more responsibilities that have helped me grow up.
Thomas
My next steps after post 16 is to go to Nottingham Trent University to study geography, which is both physical and human geography and hopefully have a job in conservation orf wildlife or something in that area.
Daniel
I would describe myself as confident; I’m not scared to do things. Yes, one word — confident.
Mia and Amelia
My favourite subject is child development simply because it’s the most interesting. I think not only is it a brilliant thing to learn about, but as someone who wants to have children eventually, whether I wanted a career in it or not, being able to learn the general knowledge is really handy.
