Fantastic A Level results for Retford Oaks Academy

Year 13 students at Retford Oaks Academy, part of the Diverse Academies Trust, are looking forward to bright futures after achieving an excellent set of A Level results.

Students who have been eagerly awaiting their A Level and vocational qualifications results have been celebrating today, as Retford Oaks enjoys another year of success. For many, this was the first time at the academy since the doors closed in March and despite the unusual circumstances, the excitement was evident as students arrived at the academy.

Over a fifth of the grades awarded were A*– A, and over half were graded at A*– B, representing an improvement from 2019. Overall, the pass rate was a fantastic 99.1%, showing the dedication to learning and achievement across the sixth form.

This year’s top performer, Rhiannon Emery, achieved a hugely impressive set of results with A*s in Spanish and business and an A in maths. Rhiannon will be taking up her place at Bishop Grosseteste University to study maths. She said: “I am so pleased – wow!”

Another top achiever was Olivia Bateman who achieved an A* in business, an A in biology and an A in chemistry. Olivia will be taking up her place at the University of Lincoln to study law. As she left Retford Oaks she said: “Thank you for everything!”

Joseph Newton’s dedication to his studies also paid off, with an A in English literature, a B in drama, a C in history and an impressive A* in his Extended Qualification Project. Joe will be going on to York St John University to study English literature.

Mr Christopher West, principal at Retford Oaks Academy said: “We are delighted with this year’s results which show another significant year on year improvement – outcomes which clearly demonstrate the dedication of our students over the course of their studies, as well as the commitment of our teaching staff. After what has been a very challenging year, we are incredibly proud of the students leaving today – from all the staff at Retford Oaks, we wish you every success and happiness for the future.”
