There was a wonderful atmosphere at Retford Oaks Academy – part of Diverse Academies Trust – today as year 11 students gathered to receive their GCSE results. Staff, students and families came together to celebrate their achievements and recognise the hard work, resilience and determination they have shown throughout their time at the academy.
Principal, Luke Dickinson, said: “We are incredibly proud of all our students and everything they have achieved. They have demonstrated real commitment, perseverance and ambition. Today’s results reflect the progress they have made and the opportunities they have worked towards. We are delighted that many of our students will be returning in September to continue their studies at Retford Oaks Academy sixth form.”
Among the many individual successes celebrated were twin brothers Zach and Louis, who both achieved an exceptional set of results.
Zach secured a grade 9 in art, eight grade 8s across subjects including maths, science and English, alongside a Level 2 merit in music. Louis achieved an impressive grade 9 in maths, 8 in further maths, as well as Level 2 distinctions in hospitality and catering and sport science, five grade 7s and a grade 6. Zach said: “Even better than I expected, a lot of late nights but it’s all paid off.” Louis added: “Overall I’m very happy, especially with my maths grade. We’re going out for a meal tonight to celebrate.”
Kas also had plenty to celebrate, with his determination and resilience rewarded with four grade 9s in Chinese, maths, chemistry and physics, along with three 8s and a grade 7. Reflecting on his achievement, he said: “I’m happy with my results, especially Chinese! I didn’t expect a 9 at all.”
Further success came from Jennifer, who achieved three grade 9s in maths, biology and physics, three 8s and two 7s. Jennifer said: “I was really hoping for a 9 in maths as I’ve been a few marks off all year, so I’m very happy I got it!”
Lucy was another student to achieve excellent results this year, securing three 9s in biology, chemistry and physics, two 8s, a grade 6 and two Level 2 distinctions. Looking ahead, she said: “I’m really happy and proud of myself. I’m staying at Retford Oaks sixth form to study biology, chemistry and maths, possibly physics too.”
The academy is proud to have supported students throughout their journey and wishes them every success for the future.
