This year, we’re delighted to offer prospective students and their families a range of open events as they prepare for September 2027 admission.
We’re confident that each event provides a warm and engaging introduction to life at our academy, whether you join us for our traditional summer open evening, attend one of our open mornings, or take part in our ‘Get to Know Retford Oaks’ Q&A session during the autumn term.
Families are welcome to attend more than one event – we’re always pleased to share our academy in as many ways as possible.
2026 open events
Open evening
Thursday 25 June 2026, 5-7.30pm
We’re delighted to invite families of Year 5 pupils to our Summer Open Evening on Thursday 26 June – a fantastic opportunity to experience everything that makes Retford Oaks Academy such a popular choice for secondary education in Retford and the surrounding area.
The evening will begin with a welcome from our Principal, Luke Dickinson, followed by the chance to explore our vibrant academy. From hands-on activities to interactive demonstrations, every subject area will be open for you to discover.
Our students and staff will be available throughout the evening to answer your questions and share what life at Retford Oaks is really like – from our ambitious, engaging curriculum to the wide range of enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom.
You’ll also have the chance to see our excellent facilities in action, including our modern science labs, creative arts spaces and impressive sports provision.

Open mornings

We warmly invite families to join us for a Q&A session with our Principal, followed by a small-group tour in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
We understand that open evenings can feel overwhelming for some children when exploring their secondary school options. At Retford Oaks, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do, and our open mornings provide a calm, supportive alternative, offering a more personalised experience for families who would benefit from a quieter introduction to the academy.
