Yesterday we had the privilege of taking over 50 year 10 and year 11 students to Nottingham Concert Hall for Poetry Live!
Students across year 10 and 11 had the pleasure of hearing poetry read by poet laureates Simon Armitage and Carol Ann Duffy, alongside poets featured in the GCSE poetry anthology such as John Agard and Imtiaz Dharker.
It was a great success and students got to see some of the best of the Nation’s leading poets perform their poetry, discuss their work and ask them questions. They also heard from a chief examiner who gave them top tips to tackle some of their poetry questions in their upcoming Literature exams.
The students represented Retford Oaks brilliantly – they were focused, engaged and exampled excellent behaviour throughout the day.
A thoroughly enjoyable event and invaluable experience for our students.
